The Coal Watch Comox Valley Society is an alliance of residents and
islanders concerned about the environmental and social impacts of the
proposed Raven Underground Coal Project slated to be sited between
Parksville and Courtenay. Coal Watch will be holding public forums On
Denman Island tomorrow, and right here at the University of Victoria
this Wednesday at 7pm in the Law Building.

The effects of Egypt's fledgling revolution are already being felt

The provincial government of British Columbia is currently weighing the environmental pros and cons of a proposed coal mine on Vancouver Island. Coal mining has a bitter history on the island, most famously remembered in the songs and stories recounting the murder of union activist Ginger Goodwin, but the industry left long ago. Now they want back in, and residents of the mid-island are saying "Hell No!"
