Oak Bay Target of Aggressive "Smart Meter" Installation Campaign
written by Press Release

Smart Meter Info. - Take Action ASAP
by Citizens for Safe Technology
BC Hydro Smart Meters are being installed aggressively in Oak Bay. Corix installers do not have a list of those on the DO NOT INSTALL or the DELAY LIST. They are simply knocking on doors, if you're not home they're installing them.

Go to www.citizensforsafetechnology.org and click on the Smart Meter Action Kit.

Find:

1. Letter to mail/email BC Hydro (do this asap) and the sign to attach to your meter.

2. In the News & Development section of the site find the A Channel News clip and see the meter box built to stop Corix from installing the meter. Make sure they can read the meter and see the tamper wire at the bottom so they know you've not tampered with it. If you can't build a box then make it so your box is inaccessible.

3. Also find the "There goes the neighbourhood" flyer that outlines the problem of smart meters
as well as the fact and fiction, a first draft of the Facts & Fiction of BC Hydro's statement .http://citizensforsafetechnology.org/Smart-Meters-Separating-Fact-from-Fiction,2,1259

4. If you also call BC Hydro push the number to talk about your account,  1-800-224-9376. Tell them you don't want to be transferred, you'll never get through, tell them to make a note on your account that under no circumstances are they to install a meter on your house. Some people are telling BC Hydro that they'll take legal action. There are people meeting with lawyers today and tomorrow.

The time to take action was yesterday!

Another problem with the meters - they contain a mercury switch that will be banned in Canada within the year. In California where these meters have already been installed there have been many fires at the meter and/or caused by the meter. Ask your insurance company if your house is insured. BC Hydro isn't liable for a fire if it happens. Who's responsible for the health risks or the need for a hazmat situation created by such a fire in conjunction with mercury?

Please share/forward this to your neighbours and friends.
