Cohen Commission Big Ticket for Wild Salmon Campaigners

"We're Going to Need a Bigger Courtroom"
The Cohen Commission is expecting a bloodbath at the salmon inquiry as public interest and a media feeding frenzy is in danger of exceeding the 130 seats in the courtroom.

"Interest is being generated in the commission's hearings as they near their conclusion," states a letter sent yesterday to lawyers and those with standing at the Cohen Commission.

"The commission is taking steps to ensure that participants with standing have access to seating in the event audience numbers exceed capacity in the courtroom.  Beginning on Monday, August 22, a block of 30 seats in the public gallery will be allocated to participants with standing with the topic for each day's hearing" (Read letter in full online here).

Meanwhile, the public should get there early for the 10am start.  Rumours are that the salmon farming industry is laying on busses from Campbell River to pack the room.

"We're going to need a bigger boat!" is a memorable quote in the film 'Jaws'.

In the Chamber of Secrets called the Cohen Commission, lawyers must have screamed out "We're going to need a bigger courtroom" when they caught sight of the Jaws-sized monster called salmon farming lurking in the murky waters.

Huge interest in the Cohen Commission's discussion on 'Diseases' starting on Monday (August 22) - ending on Wednesday (August 24) with Dr. Kristi "Muzzled" Miller - has sparked panic at the Cohen Commission.

On Monday (August 22), the release of ten years of disease records for 120 salmon farms (delivered to the Cohen Commission in January) is expected to spell the end of the line for salmon farming in British Columbia.

Following the 'Diseases' evidentiary hearings, the issue of 'Aquaculture' will finally rear its ugly head (starting on Thursday August 26 until September 8).
