Getting Dunn with Lunn in the Gulf Islands
written by Ingmar Lee

Getting It Together
by Ingmar Lee
Hi all; the Gulf Islands Secondary School gymn on Salt Spring Island was totally packed out today, with nearly 1000 people in attendance, -an unprecedented and fabulous  turnout. There on the stage to debate was Elizabeth May: Green, Gary Lunn: Harper, Renee Heatherington: Liberal and Eliza Loring-Kuhanga: NDP.

GISS students opened the show with three fabulous, challenging questions, the best of which was why Gary Lunn FIRED Canada's Nuclear Safety Watchdog after she shut down the Chalk River Nuke for safety concerns. Then the floor got opened up for questions.

Although people asked questions towards all the candidates, questioner after questioner hammered Lunn over the Harper government's atrocious record on environment, poverty, GMO's, dirty-oil, destroying Canada's global reputation, Lunn's lemming-like obeisance to Harper judged by his voting record, - and gradually, although the crowd was extremely polite, it became more than abundantly clear that most of the attendance would be voting Green.

About half way through the debate, Lunn slunk off - begging off "due to other commitments."

Of course, we all know that the Farmed-Fish eaters, Water-front monsterhome owners, Walmart-shoppers, Fox-News watchers and Humvee drivers of Salt Spring Island, don't bother showing up at community events like all-candidates meetings, so be warned, S/GI progressive voters, do not be complacent! .

These folks don't deign to attend any "all candidates" function, where they would have to rub shoulders with the great unwashed. These are the anonymous people in our community who keep voting for Lunn, who keeps winning the seat with 26% of the vote.

These are the "Lunnite" Harperites who play the farcical and corrupt 'first-past-the-post' electoral scam that passes for 'democracy' in Canada.

My question was to Ms. Heatherington and Ms. Loring-Kuhanga:

"With all due respect, why not, just this once and in this very special and unique case, demonstrate a selfless act of Canadian patriotism and stand down and turn your votes over to the astute, immensely skillful, articulate, passionate and imminently deserved Green Party Leader, Elizabeth May?"

I'm appealling to the progressive community of Saanich/Gulf Islands, please, please suspend your political allegiances, Vote Green this time,  and get retire once and for all, this truly bumbling and inept Harperite, Gary Lunn.

If our progressive politicians will not work together in coalition, and thereby allow Stephen Harper to carry on ruining everything that is wonderful about Canada, then at least in our constituency, let us coalesce and vote en masse for Elizabeth May!!

"We're Dunn with Lunn"

[Personal confession, FYI, - in the last federal election, although I am an avowed Green voter, I voted NDP - for Denise Savoie, - because she was by far the most visionary, progressive choice - she far surpassed the Green candidate - and I am proud and glad that I voted for her. Also, I was invited to join the Liberal Party so that I could nominate Briony Penn, which I did (but would never do for any lesser being). But then we learned that UVic, where we were living, has been gerrymandered out of the riding, so we immediately renounced our Liberal membership, and then voted for Denise.]

  Cheers,  Ingmar
