Invitation to VOICES-VOIX -- Vancouver launch and election strategy session
by VOICES-VOIX
There are few values at the heart of any vibrant democratic society
more important than the right and ability to speak out freely, to
disagree, and to advocate for differing points of view. However, there
is a growing and serious concern in Canada that a range of deeply
troubling government actions and decisions over the past several years
have significantly eroded fundamentally democratic and human rights
principles and institutions in our country.
In response, organizations and individuals across Canada have come
together under the VOICES-VOIX banner to draw attention to this attack
on advocacy and dissent, and to use the upcoming federal election as an
opportunity to seek pledges from party leaders and local candidates that
they will take action to restore and strengthen the state of democracy
and human rights in Canada.
