Big Coal Calling Again in Comox?
written by Press Release

An Open Public letter to the media filed with your publication
by Adel & David Routledge
Many people are becoming aware of the Raven Coal Mine and the effect this will have on the environment and people living along Baynes Sound/Fanny Bay. However, the rest of the Comox Valley citizens do not appear to be expressing much concern about this mine, because its not in their back yard or, in their neighbourhood, at this time.

Well brace yourselves; folks particularly the citizens of Cumberland, because guess what's coming to your neighbourhood, yet another proposed coal mine, 'The Bear Mine' formally known as the Hamilton Lake Coal Deposit.

Yes, a coal mine in your very own watershed!

Cumberland gets drinking water from the Hamilton Lake watershed. Its surface water must be kept clean at all times. A coal mine opening at this site would certainly be very detrimental to the health of all who drink water down stream from the coal workings.

So it is not only the citizens of Baynes Sound/Ships Point that are going to be affected, we are all in this together, sink or swim, so wake up Comox Valley, Cumberland & Royston, you to could easily have major drinking water problems in the not to distant future.

Because We Care
