Int. Conference for Palestinian Prisoners
written by Press Release

Int. Conference for Palestinian Prisoners
by Palestinian Return Centre
The routine incarceration of Palestinian prisoners by Israel was the focus of a major international conference in Geneva. The conference, organised by UFree and Friends of Humanity, attracted many high profile personalities from the European political class and numerous other NGOs, and activists.

The Palestinian Return Centre who took part in the two day event, which began at the United Nations, presented a paper on the detention of Palestinian refugees from Iraq.

This conference marks an added focus on the plight of Palestinian political prisoners, whose numbers now reach seven thousand,
languishing in Israeli detention camps.

The UN Committee On The Inalianable Rights of the Palestinian People, also adressed the same issue four days earlier, demonstrating a global recognition of the inhumane, and at times, criminal treatment of Palestinian prisoners.

Majed Al Zeer, General Director of PRC, mentioned the importance of such a galvanizing conference, which drew our attention to another aspect of the Israeli occupying force.

“This is a very important step, raising a very serious issue. No other people in the world are detained and tortured like the
Palestinians. Every Palestinian has either been detained or imprisoned by Israel or knows someone who has been detained or impirsoend by Israel. The world needs to know this and the world needs to know the immoral and illegal conditions under which the Prisoners are captured, incarcerated, tortured and detained. The PRC is very proud to have played its part in such an important event” said Mr Al Zeer.
