This Week on GR
by C. L . Cook
This week: Engineer Werner Simbeck believes there is much more to the 9/11 story than so far
reported from official quarters. Simbeck is a mechanical engineer, and
is a signator to the petition sponsored by Architects and Engineers for
9/11 Truth, an international collection of like-minded professionals who
calculate the official September 11th story does not compute.

Peter Murdoch is a former journalist and the current
vice-president of the media division for the Communication, Energy and
Paperworkers Union, the representative organization of more than 20,000
Canadian journalists. Peter and CEP were reported in the Globe &
Mail recently as being perplexed by Canadian Radio-television and
Telecommunications Commission, or CRTC, attempts to codify media
deception in this country.
In an time when media credibility is being
questioned like never before, who on earth would wish to undermine that
fragile commodity further? Or as Peter Murdoch asks; “Where is the
motivation for change that would lower the standards of truth and
fairness in broadcast journalism?”

And;
Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft
will join us at the bottom of the hour to relate her
reacquainting with
the streets of our fair city, and the goings on therein and beyond. But
first, Werner Simbeck and knocking down the persistent myths behind the
9/11 attacks.
Well, do you believe it? Nearly ten years after the fall of the Twin Towers there remain unanswered questions that put into doubt the official story. The issue is not academic; the 9/11 attacks in the United States served as catalyst for sweeping changes in the way we live our lives, and those changes are continuing apace. If you doubt the immense knock-on effects of that single day in September 2001, take a virtual tour of one of the myriad security corporations that have proliferated contagion-like since, or just take a walk through an airport. Those with the temerity to voice their doubts of the "accepted" version of "The Day that Changed Everything' have been, by turn, dismissed as "conspiracy nuts," denigrated as simpletons, and demonized as traitors. Some of the more prominent, and credible, of them found themselves isolated socially, and marginalized professionally. They have been driven from their jobs, harassed, and suffered death threats. Clearly, it's an issue that strikes an ominous chord that resonates through the modern body politic.

And; how are lies promulgated? Not the white ones, or kind ones, or the devious little ones told by children caught with hands in cookie jars, but the great falsehoods that allow injustice erode entire nations; how are the pernicious kinds a falsehoods, those famously described simply as "Big" perpetuated? In today's world of ubiquitous instant communications technologies, almost any of us can, as Mark Twain observed a century ago, send a lie traveling around the world six times before the truth gets its boots on; but it takes dedication to keep a good lie going strong, and for that you need the resources of a news corporation, or the state; or better yet, with a news corporation and the state together.
