Another Major Quake
Coming for Chile?
Chile was rocked Friday afternoon by an estimated 6.8 temblor centered about thirty miles north of Concepcion. The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake striking at close to 5pm local time, the epicenter 245 miles south-southwest of the capital, Santiago at a depth of approximately 11 miles.

Tremors in Concepcion were reported to have lasted about thirty seconds. Damage reports have yet to be filed.
The earthquake was a rude reminder of the major, 8.8 Magnitude quake that struck almost a year ago. That quake devastated Chile, killing more than 500 Chileans, and triggering a tsunami, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.
