The Canadian Challenge to Internet Access
written by Press Release
The Future of the Internet:
Let's Rise to the Challenge
by Open Media
As you know, the immediate future of the Internet comes down to the CRTC’s decision. We’re worried that we could be on our way to a long, drawn-out battle between the CRTC, politicians, and judges - that’s what is currently happening in our cell phone market.

We need a good decision by the CRTC to stop the meter now.

But the CRTC offices are swarming with telecom lobbyists. We can’t let them push back the advances we’ve already made. Would you help boost our campaign to the next level by donating to our non-profit work today

We need your help, because getting to the next level requires some resources.

Your gift will:
  •   Buy ads targeting the CRTC, reminding them and politicians that Canadians are paying attention
  • Provide resources to grassroots groups who are organizing days of action on February 26th - we need to be decentralized like the ‘net.
  • Strengthen our online activism – your responses were so great that it crashed our site! We need stronger online tools to gather momentum and support.

The pressure is working: as over 50,000 comments rolled into the CRTC review, Shaw announced that they are suspending their new usage fees.

Together we can win this, but we need the tools to get our message across. Will you help today? Decisions are being made as you read this email, so please give right away so we can move fast.

Because you signed the petition, we know you care as much as we do. Thank you so much for your steadfast support.

Sincerely,

Steve, Reilly, Lindsey, Shea – the OpenMedia.ca team

P.S. If you donate now, it may just save you money from Internet fees later!
