The Fate of Pacific Salmon: Cohen Inquiry's Quiet Progress
written by Press Release
The Cohen Inquiry
by Alexandra Morton
The Cohen Inquiry is churning away quietly, many of you may have heard that its' final report has been delayed. I am working to prepare for the Aquaculture portion - which is a time-consuming effort as there are 100,000s of documents to be made sense of.

It is very unfortunate the final report has now been delayed a year, but I am doing everything possible to make this matter.

I believe this is an extremely significant process, even though I have become cynical of government processes. For those of you on Facebook, there are some dedicated people attending nearly daily, Elena Edwards and Sabra Woodworth, and they are writing as they sit in the Inquiry.

Much of it has been tedious by the sounds of it but I am thankful of the effort they are putting into this.

Anissa Reed has made us a Valentines' Day card - For the Love of Wild Salmon - which you can download and send to whomever you like, but we are hoping many will send it to the King of Norway, to let him know we love our wild salmon too much to risk them and want salmon feedlots to move out of the ocean and you can also send them to our elected members of our government.

I have sent our letter to the Minister of Fisheries asking that she do everything possible to find out if a retrovirus is infecting our wild salmon, where it came from and how we can minimize its' affect. You can see it at http://alexandramorton.typepad.com/ we cleaned up the language and included the comments because there is such a diversity of voices in your comments. If more people sign I will send it again. you can sign here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dEtNMExpVGpXZ2U4R3J1dFdhQVJxU3c6MQ
