The People's Commission Network Popular Forum:
Whose Security? Our Security!
by Peoples Commission
From
February 4 to 6, the People's Commission is hosting a public forum to
mobilize networks to collectively respond to the growing threat posed by
the national security agenda.
The forum will consist of both
educational panels and working sessions to coordinate the struggles of
different communities targeted by state policies of repression and
control in Canada.
Over three days, we will address five themes: historical
perspectives on national security, the criminalization of dissent and
marginalization of communities; the militaro-security industrial
complex; CSIS Watch; blacklisting and the anti-terrorism act; and
immigration security measures.
Featuring speakers from across Quebec and
Canada, panelists will include Ellen Gabriel, Gary Kinsman, Hassan
Almrei, Abousfian Azdelrazik and Sophie Lamarche Harkat, among many
others.

Programme:
Founded in 2005, the People's Commission is a Montreal network that
monitors and opposes the national security agenda. The network aims to
bring together individuals and groups - such as immigrants, racialized
communities, indigenous peoples, social justice organizations and labour
unions - to share information and experiences, forge alliances,
coordinate strategies and work together for justice and dignity.
