Coffee not Tea: Birth of a Canadian National Political Movement
written by Press Release
Thousands visit CoffeeParty.ca in first day of movement
by Coffee Party.ca
OTTAWA - Today, Democracy Watch announced the launch of the CoffeeParty.ca movement for good government and corporate responsibility in Canada has been a great success -- in the first day thousands of Canadians have already visited: http://www.CoffeeParty.ca with more than 30,000 hits to the site in total, and the word is spreading across the country.

Democracy Watch suggests that media go to any coffee shop in the country and ask people there whether they support changes to make Canadian governments and businesses honest, ethical, open, representative and waste-preventing, to see just how much support the CoffeeParty.ca movement has.

"Surveys over the past 20 years show that a large majority of Canadians want stronger good government and corporate responsibility laws and enforcement systems, and the CoffeeParty.ca movement will keep pushing for those changes, until politicians across the country finally clean things up," said Duff Conacher, Coordinator of Democracy Watch and its five nation-wide coalitions made up of more than 120 citizen groups from across Canada with a total membership of more than three million Canadians.

The CoffeeParty.ca movement is launching with Parliament opening again next Monday, and a federal election likely soon, and with
elections scheduled this fall in Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Yukon. The window of opportunity is open for many Canadians to elect politicians and governments committed to making themselves, and big businesses, more accountable and responsible.
