War Criminal Alert: IDF Chief of Staff
by C. L. Cook
This late in: Canadian military chief to welcome Israeli Defense Force counterpart. Ashkenazi is one of the architects behind the infamous Cast Lead campaign, wherein Israel's military deployed restricted and illegal weapons to indiscriminately bomb the captive civilian population of Gaza.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE ARREST THIS MURDERER BEFORE HE KILLS AGAIN?
The outright death toll was approximately 1400 souls lost, the majority of those being civilians. How many have perished from their wounds, or from the harsh conditions left following the 22 day bombing blitz is not properly recorded in the west, or Israel.
The Canadian government of Stephen Harper has been an enthusiastic supporter of Israel's crimes against the people of Palestine, and Lebanon, where the 2006 bombing of civilians resulting in the deaths of more than a thousand Lebanese civilians was deemed "a measured response" to the capture of two Israeli soldiers by the Hezbollah. The Harper government was also alright with the Israeli deployment of cluster bombs, white phosphorous, and the overt targeting of ambulances and other civilian infrastructure.
Though Canada is signatory to international conventions criminalizing all the actions above, the Harper regime seems little interested in upholding the nation's commitment to the rule of law, or the humanitarian principles it is meant to promote.
The Israel National News has more on the visit below the break.
Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu (Israel National News):
IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi left for a working visit to Canada and the United States Saturday night in what may his last trip abroad before his term of office ends next year.
He will be hosted by his Canadian counterpart, General Walter Natynczak, a strong ally who expressed understanding for Israel’s
Operation Cast Lead counterterrorist campaign two years ago. The Chief of Staff also will meet with the Canadian Minister of National
Defense, Israel’s Ambassador to Canada and Jewish leaders in Toronto. Later in the week, Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi will visit U.S. Chairman
of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, who has visited Israel several times the past two years.
