Chernobly on Wheels: Nuclear Protests in Germany: "We Were 50,000 Strong"
written by Press Release
We were 50.000 in Dannenberg on Saturday:
A great movement, and almost everyone friendly
by Meike
After the horrible events in Stuttgart (protesters got badly injured by the police - they blew out peoples eyes using water cannons) the protest changed! More people come, but very few really have battles with the police, most are afraid of the water cannons (we could see 8 of them near our protest) and act very clever!

"Chernobyl on Wheels:" Protesters target atomic waste transport

This is civil disobedience as it should be. Just sitting there, or dancing around, singing, tell the media our thoughs and by the way blocking the Castor! Lots of different groups keep the policemen running just be being here, going there, just trying to get through to the railways.

I had to leave, but friends of mine are still on the railway!

We spend money, food an warm blankets so the protesters had a quite good night out there.

The policemen were not so lucky, they had to stand around and it was getting icy-cold this night!

So now the police-union announced in the news, that the policemen are exhausted because they do not get food or assistance while all the streets are blocked by the "Bäuerliche Notgemeinschaft", who put their tractors everywhere! Sorry - but thats life!

They chose Gorleben, because it seemed to be the "end of the world" then - Now they get to know the consequences - few streets, lots of woods and many possibilities for protesters to hide ; )

And have You ever seen a "Hundertschaft" policemen in full arms running? They move like turtles. They are far too slow!

So Tschernobyl on wheels is still standing near Dahlenburg.

We expect Greenpeace or Robin Wood to have some more nice surprises for the Castor on its way ; )

Its not over yet - ist getting bigger and bigger - the more stupid Mrs. Merkel and the government acts, the more people will join the protest!

Cheers
Meike
