Salmon Farm Diseases Implicated in Fraser Sockeye Decline
written by Press Release
Salmon Farm Diseases Implicated in Fraser Sockeye Decline:
A Film Primer for Understanding the Judicial Inquiry
by Twyla Roscovitch
There is now evidence that disease from the 70+ salmon farms on the migration route of Fraser sockeye represents the perhaps the biggest threat to our wild fish.

This short film has been produced to help the public understand the dynamics of fish migration routes, farm locations and the nature of disease transfer, and the politics that allow this to continue.

A judicial inquiry into the decline of the Fraser sockeye is underway. The Cohen Commission begins its evidentiary hearings on Oct 25. It will be interesting to watch as the issues outlined in this film are played brought forth in the courtroom.

Wild salmon will continue to decline unless their is reform within DFO, and this may be our best chance. Pay attention when the evidentiary hearings begin on Oct 25.

Produced by volunteer efforts.
