Tsartlip Firing One Over Governments' Bows
written by Press Release
Time for Government Disregard
of First Nations to Stop
by Tsartlip First Nation
Our people are tired of the way we are being treated by all levels of government. The Treaty of 1852 promises our hunting and fishing areas to be protected and to remain. The governments keep disregarding us and it is time to stop.

At noon on October 16th Tsartlip will be closing down West Saanich Rd at the Mt Newton intersection and Stelly's X rd. At the Mt Newton intersection where a cultural ceremony will take place acknowledging LAUWELNEW & YOS (Mt Newton & Malahat) the mountains are where our people get strength.

From the ceremony we will walk to the Tribal School gym where a stage will be set for the Chiefs to acknowledge the Saanich Territorial Declaration and the Douglas Treaty.

Saturday Oct. 16,
12:00 PM
Intersection of West Saanich Rd.
and Mount Newton Rd.
