Saturday Peace Mobilization in Washington D.C.

Massive Peace Mobilization For Historic
One Nation Rally Calls for Funding Jobs not War
by One Nation Working Together Coalition
On Saturday, October 2, 2010, the peace movement will join what promises to be one of the most important progressive mobilizations in recent history.
The Peace Table, convened by United for Peace and Justice, is mobilizing one of the largest contingents within the One Nation Working Together coalition.
Calling for an immediate end to the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, deep cuts in military spending, and the redirection of resources to meet urgent community needs, the Peace Table will highlight how these issues are connected to the current economic crisis and the urgent need for a comprehensive green jobs program.

Marching behind a banner that reads Money for Jobs Not Wars, Bring Our Troops Home Now the peace community will join with hundreds of thousands of others in the One Nation Working Together mobilization. Throughout the day, the Peace Table will distribute thousands of posters, leaflets and stickers with messaging related to shifting funding priorities away from war and militarism and into healthcare, education, re-building infrastructure and other urgent domestic needs.

Who:    Peace Table participants include national organizations: Peace Action, Pax Christi, American Muslim Association of North America, American Friends Service Committee, CODEPINK, Iraq Veterans Against the War, and Military Families Speak Out; as well as local grassroots groups such as the Washington Peace Center, Lincoln Park (IL) Neighbors United for Peace, and Greater New Haven Peace Council.
