UN Mavi Marmara Report and Gaza Flotillas Grow
written by Press Release
UN Report Confirms Mavi Marmara
Survivors' Stories
by Kevin Neish
This week, a United Nations investigation substantiated the atrocities reported by Mavi Marmara survivor and Victoria, BC resident Kevin Neish upon his release from an Israeli prison last June.

Those atrocities include torture, kidnapping and executions by Israeli commandos aboard the Mavi Marmara and 5 other ships, part of an unarmed humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza earlier this year.

The 56 page UN Human Rights Council report, compiled by a panel of eminent international judges and lawyers, documents a myriad of Geneva Convention and International Law violations and war crimes perpetrated against the flotilla by Israeli forces.

"This report validates everything I stated I had witnessed, and sadly, much much more," Neish said.

"Not only were the crimes against the flotilla confirmed, but also the complete illegality of Israel's occupation of Gaza."  "This gives me new hope for  justice for Gaza and Palestine and eventual peace with Israel." he said.

"I'm shocked that the Israeli government has chosen to ignore and cover up these horrific events. First it was the Goldstone report of Israeli war crimes in Gaza, and now this UN report, documenting still more crimes." Neish continued.

"Mr. Harper's government is virtually alone in the world in not condemning Israel's crimes."  "I have yet to hear a single word of
concern or inquiry from my own government about the Israeli torture and brutal abuse I personally  endured."

Another aid flotilla to Gaza will be sailing within months (www.freegaza.org) and it will include a Canadian ship (www.canadaboatgaza.org). A broad spectrum of peace and justice groups, Jewish and Arab organisations, churches, unions, student groups, Quebecois associations, dignitaries and average citizens from across Canada are well on their way to raising the $300,000 needed to purchase and crew the Canadian ship.

"We'll keep sailing until the Gaza blockade is history." Neish stated.
