Professional Center-Right
Attacks Progressives
by Sean Fenley
The mouthpiece for “New” Democratic president Barack Obama,
apparently felt the need to take a shot at a sleeping dog that was out
cold — and near death — and has probably been that way since at
least the late 1960s, early 1970s.
White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs: Kicking sleeping dogs
It would stand to reason that
after decades of both sides of the aisle handing over the keys to
the family vehicle to all sorts of avaricious and rapacious,
beastly corporate predators there might be some push back
against the “New” Democratic ancien regime. Said mouthpiece, to the
“New” Democratic ancien administration cited a giveaway to the
health insurance industry, and a toothless Wall Street “reform”
bill as achievements of the “New” Democratic ancien administration
that should have assuaged “intransigent” progressive agitators.
The mouthpiece, Obama’s snapping poodle, also suggested that even a
President Kucinich couldn’t pacify the president’s progressive
detractors, and that only the elimination of the Pentagon and a
“Canadian health system” would placate the rabble. Well when a just war
hasn’t been fought by the U.S. military in decades — nor a
Constitutional one by the way — and when on paper the only systems that
make sense are either single-payer or socialized medicine, one
wonders which party in this polar opposition is the one that appears
to be the more sane?
It’s unclear why Obama’s churlish surrogate
took out his rage on non-Obama administration sycophants and yes
people, but it probably has to do with the miasma that has
overtaken the president’s alleged ideological base.
The base is a burden to the militaristic, imperialist, miserly —
when it comes to social policy — Democratic Party, so it must incur a
sound thrashing, every time another election rolls around. Though
they cannot get elected without it, the base hardly receives any
kind of plush, luxuriant, or high roller treatment. The base serves
the important purpose of springing into action at the beck and call
of the ancien administration, and apparently according to the
Obama White House; it should be perfectly content and happy and
resolute about its unenviable position in life.
This year, as every
one before it, apparently tough love is the prescription of David
Axelrod, and the other spin doctors that make such executive level
decisions within the New Democratic ancien regime. Frothing,
snapping poodle dogs are certainly not the ones, who take on such
important, and sure to be hotly contested initiatives.
A good swift kick to the derriere, is all that it should take, to
keep the hoi polloi in motion. Then they will flock to the polls
like good, obedient yes people, and vote for, still more, alleged
change to come.
You’d think they’d be more existential about it, when
“change” looks an awful lot like last year’s merchandise, and when
people don’t like getting nothing but a swift kick — for the last
time that they showed up and voted at the polls. But we’re still
talking about the party that helps people here, the party that
“lift’s all people up”, the party of hopes and dreams and
aspirations and all that sorta stuff.
Tired mantras such as that,
though, and agreeable labels and buzzwords; aren’t going to work any
longer, to trick and deceive people into voting for them this time
around. And one has to wonder if a lashing out such as this, is
really all that this ancien administration, can “credibly” offer to
many of its most sincere former backers?
