A third soldier, as yet unnamed, taken to hospital at Kandahar Airfield base is said to be in "stable condition."

Today's two deaths brings to 154 the total number of Canadians killed in Afghanistan since the country's military involvement began there in 2001.

150 CF personnel, two aid workers, a journalist, and one diplomat comprise the Canadians who have died during the occupation.

Pictures and further details of today's Canadian casualties are expected to be released by Canadian Forces later today. [UPDATED]
