Killed in Afghanistan

The CBC reports Monday, Sergeant James Macneil, a combat engineer, was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) at approximately 8am local time.

Macneil was on foot patrol around the village of Nakhoney, near Kandahar.
Canadian Forces' (CF) Brigadier-General Jon Vance said Macneil was;
"An extremely proud Cape Bretoner..." and someone who was "...inevitably the life of the party."
He is the 152nd Canadian killed in Afghanistan since Canada's military involvement there began in 2001. 148 Canadian Forces, two aid workers, a journalist, and one diplomat have all been killed.
Sergeant James Macneil was a ten year CF veteran, on his fourth deployment, and was with the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group, based in Petawawa.
Canadian prime minister, Stephen Harper said of Macneil's death; "We are all saddened by this loss."
