This Week on GR
by C. L. Cook
This week; It's a continuation of a growing trend in Greenwashing that has seen the
undermining of grassroots efforts to halt the corporate destruction for
profit of our environment by once respected environmental organizations
now grown beyond their own grassroots.
Listen. Hear.
Dr. Glen Barry is the
president and founder of Ecological Internet, or EI, a U.S.-based effort
to address global environmental policy, and communicate the severity of
the current ecological crises erupting around the world. EI specializes
in the construction of environmental portals for information retrieval
and original analysis. Some of its participants include: Climate Ark,
Forests.org, EcoEarth.Info, Water Conserve, Ocean Conserve, Rainforest
Portal, and New Earth Rising. Glen Barry in the first half.
And; Victoria-based human-rights activist, Kevin Neish has set sail with
the Free Gaza Flotilla, a collection of ships and activists from around
the world trying to impress on Israel and the rest of the planet the
unacceptable destruction that nation wrecks on the peoples of Palestine
in the form of bullets and one of the longest blockades in modern
history. Kevin is in the Mediterranean now, and we'll talk to him as he
readies for the trip Israel has already warned it will not let pass.
Kevin Neish and facing the Levantine pyrates in the second half.
And; Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft
will be here at the bottom of the hour to apprise us of some of what's
going on among Victoria's exploding underclass population. But first;
Dr. Glen Barry and painting Canada's Boreal Forests green.
Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Monday, 5-6pm Pacific Time. In Victoria at 101.9FM, 104.3 cable, and on the internet at: http://cfuv.uvic.ca. He also serves as a contributing editor to the web news site, www.pacificfreepress.com.
In what is proving yet another divisive move by Environmental Non-Government Organizations, ENGO's in Canada have greenlighted industrial logging in what remains of the country's northern boreal forests. As was done in the infamous Great Bear Rainforest deal of the last decade, high-profile enviros. have given their stamp of approval for transnational timber corporations to go ahead with business as usual, with a few small caveats, pillaging the natural wild heritage of Canada with nary a word of protest from them. It's a continuation of a growing trend in Greenwashing that has seen the undermining of grassroots efforts to halt the corporate destruction for profit of our environment by once respected environmental organizations now grown beyond their own grassroots.
