Israel Announces Gaza Dome Project

Tel Aviv - Israel announced it will proceed with what is sure to prove a controversial construction project that will see a partial roof placed atop portions of the Gaza Strip enclave.
Israeli spokesperson, Mark Regev says; "After years of unprovoked rocket attacks against Israeli territory emanating from Gaza, we have finally decided a roof is the only solution."
When asked how much the project will cost, Regev said;
"Certainly, this is not a small project, and the roof, or demi-dome will likely cost several billions of dollars;" adding, "but we are sure our friends in America will see the necessity of the project and will work alongside Israel to promote her security."
Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton was seemingly taken by surprise by the announcement, but a spokesperson from the State Department did say;
"The United State' bond with Israel is unbreakable, and if they think this "Demi-Dome" will provide a path to peace in the Middle-East, it is something we would probably support."
Critcs have decried the cost of such a project to the American taxpayer, already burdened with a failing economy, but the State Department was unwavering, a spokesperson saying;
"There is an intrinsic sharing of beliefs and values binding Israel and the United States together. To preserve this bond, no option for Gaza, or anywhere in the region will be left off the table."
The United States Army Corps of Engineers designed and is currently helping to build subterranean walls between Gaza and Egypt in hopes of disrupting the network of tunnels providing supplies and contraband to Gaza.
