Kabul Breaking: Massive Explosion Rocks Capital

BBC television is reporting a "massive" explosion in the centre of Kabul. Details are sketchy, but BBC reporter Martin Patience, in Kabul says he heard one large explosion, followed by smaller explosions and gunfire. The attack seems to have taken place in the hotel district.

 

No casualty number has been released, but Patience reports hearing ambulance sirens after the fact.

 

The attack came around 6:30am local time near a shopping centre. Friday is a holiday, and the early hour means few people would likely be inside.
