WTF Newfoundland UFO's?

WTF Newfoundland UFO's
by C. L. Cook
Canadian defence minister, Peter MacKay has taken the sighting of an unidentified missile-like object seen over Harbour Mille to again display his government's complete disregard for the safety concerns of the citizenry he is sworn to serve.

This image was captured near Harbour Mille, N.L., by resident Darlene Stewart on Jan. 25.

According to state broadcaster, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC), when asked by citizens and the press what the object was and if it or others pose a danger to residents, MacKay laughed off their concern, saying;

"We [the Canadian government] will provide money to build a landing strip for UFOs at Harbour Mille."

The waggish MacKay then assured, "No, I'm only kidding. I'm joking. That's a joke."

Still not funny to witnesses of the overflight is just what is going on over their towns, and again concerning public safety, is it a matter of military testing, which has proven highly controversial in the Maritimes in the past, or was it an accidental launch?

All kidding aside, MacKay reassured his ministry has "checked with foreign countries" and says there is "no cause for panic."

Weighing in on the mystery, the prime minister's office (PMO) opined what was seen was likely a "model plane flier," a spokesperson from the PMO suggesting people from Labrador and Newfoundland enjoy launching model rockets.

Model enthusiast, Ed Welsh a model plane buff from Swift Current is quoted by the CBC saying he doubts anyone would take a model rocket out to sea to launch. Looking at the photograph of the object,  Welsh said the flame and smoke emanating from the rocket was too intense to have come from a "model."

Meanwhile, neither the RCMP or ministry of public safety have commented or offered an explanation for the overflight.
