This Week on GR
by C. L. Cook
This week, Lierre Keith is a long-time sustainability activist, feminist, editor, and author whose book titles include: 'Conditions of War,' 'Skyler Gabriel,' and her latest book, 'The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability.' Keith writes: "I want a full accounting, an accounting that goes way beyond what’s dead on your plate. I’m asking about everything that died in the process, everything that was killed to get that food onto your plate."

And; in Great Britain, hearings are being conducted into just how that country became entangled in the Iraq war. Astonishing testimony was released last week regarding secret meetings held between George W. Bush and Tony Blair that suggest the two men plotted the invasion well before any of the supposed "justifications" for such an action were merited. Dave Lindorff is an award-winning investigative reporter and author active in journalism for more than three decades. Dave Lindorff and Britain's tardy commission on that country's involvement in the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

And; Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft will join us at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with the goings on in and around Victoria.

Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Monday, 5-6pm Pacific Time. In Victoria at 101.9FM, 104.3 cable, and on the internet at: http://cfuv.uvic.ca.  He also serves as a contributing editor to the web news site, www.pacificfreepress.com. One of the greatest problems we as a species face, and so face the rest of life on this planet, is our lack of awareness. For centuries, the prophets have urged we humans awake our slumber and become aware of ourselves and our environment. In times past, relatively small human populations, and technological limitations, allowed our ignorance continue without entirely wasting the planet; but, those blissful days are done.  Today, both the size and complexity of human enterprise threaten the biosphere we and the rest of the biological beings on earth need for survival.

Lierre Keith is a long-time sustainability activist, feminist, editor, and author whose book titles include: 'Conditions of War,' 'Skyler Gabriel,' and her latest book, 'The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability.' Keith writes: "I want a full accounting, an accounting that goes way beyond what’s dead on your plate. I’m asking about everything that died in the process, everything that was killed to get that food onto your plate."  Lierre Keith in the first half.

The astonishing part in all this is the British media's feigned surprise at facts established nearly eight years ago.

Dave Lindorff is an award-winning investigative reporter and author active in journalism for more than three decades. He is the author of the books, 'This Can't Be Happening! Resisting the Disintegration of American Democracy,' 'Marketplace Medicine: The Rise of the For Profit Hospital Chains,' Killing Time: An Investigation into the Death Row Case of Mumia Abu-Jamal,' and co-author with Barbara Olshansky of, 'The Case for Impeachment: Legal Arguments for Removing George W. Bush from Office.'

Dave Lindorff and Britain's tardy commission on that country's involvement in the invasion and occupation of Iraq in the second half.

And; Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV broadcaster, Janine Bandcroft will join us at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with the goings on in and around Victoria.
