CRD Camp-Out to Save our Wild Coast
by Sophie Waterman
Hello everyone; at last, the date of the Camp-Out is almost here!
As you might know, the Juan de Fuca region is under threat of
being developed into subdivisions right now. A few weeks ago the
Outdoors Club heard a presentation about how imminent this threat is
so we decided to do something about it.
Its not right to let an area that means so much to our community
be bulldozed so that a few people can profit off of it, so we are
organizing a campout next to the CRD headquarters to tell our
representatives how we feel.
Thank-you all for your enthusiasm and interest, we hope to see
you all there, and bring your friends!
Where and when:
Centennial Square, 3:00pm, Sunday,
Nov. 15
What:
A rally to show the CRD that we want the whole CRD
board to be voting on issues as important as preserving our forest
lands on the South Island. Its going to be a fun event
with dinner, speakers, art projects and more.
The next two days are a great time to spread the word, and
encourage people to come out and show support.
See you on Sunday!
Sophie
