This week: Anthony Fenton is a freelance Canadian journalist, activist, and author whose writing appears at ZNET, The Dominion (Canada's grassroots newspaper) and other progressive news sites on the internet, and he is co-author with Yves Engler of the book, 'Canada in Haiti: Waging War on the Poor Majority.'

Anthony Fenton in the first half.

And; over the weekend, people across British Columbia turned out in force to voice their opposition to Gordon Campbell's surprise HST tax. I went down to the demonstration at Victoria's Legislature to get my fair share of the views. B.C.'s burgeoning tea party in the second half.

And; Victoria Street Newz publisher and CFUV broadcaster Janine Bandcroft will join us at the bottom of the hour to keep an eye on the goings on going on on Victoria's streets. But first, Anthony Fenton and Canada's outsourced war for Iraq's oil riches.

Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Monday, 5-6pm Pacific Time. In Victoria at 101.9FM, 104.3 cable, and on the internet at: http://cfuv.uvic.ca.  He also serves as a contributing editor to the web news site, www.pacificfreepress.com. Canada is indeed a mythical land. It is the country that is, but never was: Never was in the sense that it neither evolved, nor was formed in the crucible of revolution. It "is" simply by the virtue of its being.

"Canadians," the people comprised of all but the descendants of those preexisting the manifestation of Canada, are largely ignorant of the colonial past of the entity they are subject to, and for the most part have little idea of what the nation that operates courtesy of the taxes they pay to it does with its time and their money.

A perfect case in point is the wide-spread belief Canada rebuffed war-monger George Bush's insistence it join America's military adventure in Iraq. Ask Canadians if they think "we" joined that coalition and they'll tell you, "No." But, my first guest today will tell you, "Think again!"
