When it Crumbles: "Bare" Mountain as Allegory
written by Press Release
Video update: Bear Mtn "crumbling"
by Forest Action Network
After revelations that Len Barrie failed to pay back his share of the interchange loan, Mayor Stew Young has gone AWOL and Councillor Denise Blackwell is dodging calls from the media.

Only Acting Mayor Lanny Seaton has the guts and integrity to face the public and bravely ... blame city staff for failing to tell him Len Barrie missed his $4.79 million payment on March 2, 2009.

Believable? Not really.

Plus, views of the abandoned interchange, a few words from me about the mess they're in, accountants and investors argue about missing money, and a woman whose house on Bear Mountain is literally crumbling! (A-Channel News, 3 minutes)

Coming soon: legal action against unethical development BC Supreme Court hearing on Forest Action Network's petition for Judicial Review into the Skirt Mountain development and the interchange. We expect to be in court in October or November.

ACTION AND MEDIA WORKSHOP WEEKEND

You're invited to the Action and Media Workshop Weekend! Join some of the best action trainers in the world October 3-4 near Vancouver, BC. Sliding scale donation includes food and camping in a beautiful semi-rural setting.

Trainers from the Ruckus Society will lead two state-of-the-art workshops on Nonviolent Direct Action and Media Messaging. Experienced volunteers will lead complementary workshops on climbing skills, legal rights, security, and activism.

We're excited to be teaming up with other groups working for environmental and social justice in BC, including the Council of
Canadians, Gateway Sucks, StopWar and the Olympic Resistance Network. Here's what we expect to gain from this inspiring grassroots collaboration:

* New skills for action and media messaging
* Networking and cross-pollination with other groups and campaigns
* Increasing the chance of successful, high-profile actions
* Stepping up the pressure on those in power to address injustice
* Benefits to many groups and networks
* Fun and fellowship in a scenic setting!
