Jason speaks of his condition (this is a few weeks before he dies). He sings 4 songs overall in the documentary, one of which "We are One" has the same quality of "We are the World". A song to bring people together.He also makes up a brilliant song on the spot...you can witness his gift for songwriting and singing.
We were looking at 'pioneering' a first nations artist entrepeneur program called Solid Ground and we were speaking with Untied Native Nations towards seeing how to make it happen. It is with jason's death that I see much clearer the work that I want to do and how to do it. A platform has to be built for people in Jason's situation. Its stormy weather and their needs to be somethnig for artists to cling to before they can get on solid ground. That is a process. You need resources and a system to do so.
Jason is an example of whole generations of first nations artists that struggle with addictions and unsuitable housing arrangements and yet continue to create incredible pieces of art that get sold for a pittance on the street to maintain their addictions. The residential school holocaust permeates the first nations culture and its scars need to be healed in traditional as well integrative holistic medicine ways. The key is nutrition and i believe Conscious Planet has that answer.
Health + Training = sustainable healthy living...the aim is for everyone to achieve this and not at the expense or cost of others or other communities.
This is going out to the people I know. I ask you to watch this and get some idea of an alternative media...one that shows the community and what is going on at a grassroots level. I am getting closer and closer to where I have been aiming and i am wondering if you can see it. We need to be our own media. We need to craft a new course by changing how we focus our attention on and why.
This is more than a tribute...it's a message to us all about how we need to unite and help out our fellow man. As canadians we need to remove the racism and oppression and extend the hand of friendship and humility for there is much we have to learn about living sustainably.
In the near future this will be very important once the system breaks down. This is a bit of a never ending wake up call. The ship is on at yellow alert. Danger approaching and you must be able to see it coming. Start getting prepared....all the essentials and within the nnext 2 years. Don't dilly dabble. Wonderland is soon to end.
