Gorilla Radio with Chris Cook, Terry Wolfwood, Jon Elmer, Janine Bandcroft, Mon. Jan. 12, 2009
written by Chris Cook
This Week on GR
by C. L. Cook
This week, Terry Wolfwood is a Victoria-based writer and activist who also serves as director of the Barnard-Boecker Centre Foundation. She recently ventured to the Middle-East to Occupied Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan to see better what life there is like.

In the second half we'll be joined by Canadian freelance photojournalist Jon Elmer to discuss aspects of this bloody turkey-shoot, Operation Cast Lead' that neither Canada's State media, nor the corporate news conglomerates will. Jon has lived in and reported from Occupied Palestine and he's the creator of the websites, 'From Occupied Palestine.org, and JonElmer.ca. Jon Elmer in the second half.

Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with some of the good goings-on going on in and around the lower island in the coming week, and to continue updating us on Victoria's ongoing shelter emergency.

Sadly, 2009 is picking up right where 2008 left off. As I speak, the murderous Israeli military continues to kill, maim, and destroy Palestinians civilians. In its latest atrocity, the so-named 'Operation Cast Lead', the war criminals representing the Jewish State have murdered more than 900 confirmed, and have wounded more than 3,000 people. There are too the numbers of Palestinians made homeless by Israel's violence, but then how do you make homeless people homeless? Better we say: The Israeli military, abetted by its fervent supporters in Ottawa and Washington, D.C., have rendered shelterless the refugees that have waited these last long decades for justice in the piteous squalor of Gaza. And, the abomination promises to escalate, if Israel is to be believed.

How did we get here, and what does it mean to the peoples of that embattled region? Terry Wolfwood is a Victoria-based writer and activist who also serves as director of the Barnard-Boecker Centre Foundation. She recently ventured to the Middle-East to Occupied Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan to see better what life there is like. Terry will be presenting the slide show, 'Passage to Palestine: Land and Memory' later this month, and she'll join us today to share some of her experiences overseas.

And; as the aforementioned 'Operation Cast Lead' continues, in the second half we'll be joined by Canadian freelance photojournalist Jon Elmer to discuss aspects of this bloody turkeyshoot that neither Canada's State media, nor the corporate news conglomerates will. Jon has lived in and reported from Occcupied Palestine and he's the creator of the websites, 'From Occupied Palestine.org, and Jon Elmer.ca. Jon Elmer in the second half.

And, Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with some of the good goings-on going on in and around the lower island in the coming week, and to continue updating us on Victoria's ongoing shelter emergency. But first, Terry Wolfwood and 'Passage to Palestine: Land and Memory.'
