Eating Cake in Pakistan: Messages from A Friend
by Anonymous
The common people need to empower the common man in Pakistan, by
joining hands, giving moral support and keeping their own elected
representatives accountable on their policy and actions towards the
developing countries, especially in the conflict of interest
perspective.
(Poorest/poor rural) People in Pakistan are
selling off their newborn children or grandchildren due to poverty. You
may find the relevant news items on the DAWN internet website. It
happened last month in a small village (goth) of Sindh Pakistan.
The
tiny dead bodies of newborns have been found on garbage dumps in the
last two months. People didn't put them in the "cribs" and "cradles" of
the charities like Edhi Trust.
It costs money to travel to the charity
cradles, and it must be a horrendous thought to have one's baby at the
mercy of strangers for the rest of her/his life. So death sounds like a
merciful option. This is just my conclusion and God help me I should be
wrong hopefully.
Dear Chris; how are you? I am reconnecting on a very sad note!
I just emailed you some photographs of a wedding that took place in the President's house (official residence of the President of Pakistan) President Asif Ali Zardari, widower of late Ms Benazir Bhutto!
Please read these news items, that are linked in this internet edition of DAWN, the Key newpaper of Pakistan.
One wonders, why countries like mine, are always wobbling when it comes to "Democracy", in the global village context?
Pakistan is suffering from food security crisis. The staple food of the hardworking common man of Pakistan is "Aata" (Wheat flour). It has been scarce since the last one year, and much beyond the reach of the majority of the people. The middle class is submerging in to the lower class, due to the 23.4 percent food inflation.
One doesnt expect the man who is still in search of the daily bread for his family and self to stop and think about the way the taxes are being spent by the people in power! In free market economy why isn't the consumer of the world linked together as one humanity? Why is their so much apathy or red tapism, when it comes to helping millions across the globe to sustain their lives and livelihood?
Why are such governments given and helping hand or a pat on the back by the powers that be?
Chris can you please forward this information to the common people and organizations in the United States of America, the European Union, and other voters who vote in governments that can affect the daily bread of the hardworking and honest people on distant neglected points on the globe!
They probably don't realize the real and far reaching power of their vote! Or maybe they are not asking the people they elected to power, what they are doing to promote true democracy in the developing countries, in the true humanitarian spirit? Humanity seems to be such a misnomer these days!
I know the goodness in you and the power of goodness is great. I feel that if the common good people who grow wheat in the US, UK, and European countries read about the plight of the farmer that grows wheat in Pakistan and India, they shall be more understanding than the elected government that toes a certain policy line!
I dont have their email addresses, hence I am asking you to do this for the needful!
If someone can translate this in to the Scandinavian languages and share with the Scandinavian common good people, the Spanish and others around the globe, then we may be able to generate enough power to keep the people in the top government offices focussed on their real job!
In the photos that I sent you, the wedding of a couple is taking place in the Presidents house, which is being used as a banquet hall! The opulence of the event is visible from the scenes in the photographs. Leaders [should] set the trend; they don't, just pay lip service to democracy, austerity and energy saving drives.
I feel that the common people of the globe need to unite and keep the governments on their toes for spending only on development activities and not on pomp and show!
