This week: Richard Boyce on securing Cathedral Grove; David Ray Griffin exploring further 9/11; and Janine Bandcroft bringing us up to speed with all that's good to do in and around Victoria this coming week.
It was the centre of a bitter struggle between the provincial
Liberal government and local activists determined to save a remnant
first growth forest with its massive, centuries old trees from the
chainsaws and bulldozers. The dedicated band mounted a tree-sit,
camping high in the canopy of Cathedral Grove for more than two years,
bringing to a halt the B.C. Liberal plan of paving the island paradise
for a parking lot.
No joke!
Cutting down trees that were giants before
Columbus ever dreamt of sea-bound adventuring so tour buses full of his
travelling descendents could park and gawk, and have a comfortable
place to pee.
Richard Boyce is a Nanaimo-based ecological defender,
instrumental in the fight to preserve what little remains of the
island's original natural heritage, who last week warned: Though
promises have been made, and the barricades since dismantled, the
government of British Columbia is set to do by stealth what they
couldn't get away with in the open. Richard Boyce in the first half.
And;
thousands died on that dreadful day; hundreds of thousands have died in
its name since, but what really happened on 9/11? The official
conspiracy theory is more difficult to believe than those other,
derided postulations, and yet nearly six years after the fact, the
public is no closer to learning the truth than they were on September
12th, 2001. Or are we?
Dr. David Ray Griffin is an internationally
renowned scholar, philosopher, and leading proponent of the so-called
9/11 Truth Movement. Dr. Griffin will be speaking about his latest
book, 'Debunking 9/11 Debunking' next week in Vancouver. David Ray
Griffin, still digging into ground zero in the second segment.
And;
Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up
to speed with all that's good to do in and around Victoria in the
coming week. But first, Richard Boyce taking a stand for Cathedral
Grove.
