Tipping Barrels’, directed by Ben
Gulliver, is a unique combination of surfing and environmental
journalism that follows surfers Arran and Reid Jackson on a trip into
the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest, where they learn more about the
region and the issues confronting it. Since its release in December
2011, over 200,000 viewers have watched Tipping Barrels’ stunning visual
imagery and compelling story.
‘Standup4Greatbear’, made by Taylor Fox,
is a film based on Norm Hann’s 400km standup paddleboard expedition
along the proposed north and central coast oil tanker route in British
Columbia. Norm explores the traditional food harvesting areas of
coastal First Nation communities.
‘Cetaceans of the Great Bear Rainforest’, produced by Picture
Cloud film and animation of Victoria, B.C. is a visually stunning and
thought -provoking short animation exploring the underwater acoustic
world of whales.
‘ spOIL’, directed by Trip Jennings and
produced by the iLCP & EP Films. This powerful documentary has the
world talking. Winner of several awards throughout North America in
2011, including ‘Best Film on Mountain Environment’ – Banff Mountain
Film Festival and ‘Best Environmental Preservation Feature’ – Artivist
Film Festival.
Ian McAllister, award winning author, photographer and co-founder of
Pacific Wild, will MC a discussion session with documentary maker Norm
Hann.
All proceeds go to the
SEAS (Supporting Emerging Aboriginal Stewards) Community Initiative,
an educational program focused on connecting coastal First Nations
youth with the lands and waters of their traditional territories.
