Another Canadian Killed in Afghanistan
by C. L. Cook
Master Corporal Byron Greff was killed Saturday in a suicide bomb attack Saturday near Kabul, Afghanistan. Greff was traveling in an armoured NATO bus between bases when his convoy was rammed.
The 28 year old father of two was attached to the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton.
The Greff family released a statement that in part said;
"We will always remember his strong will, his love for his family and friends and the fact that he was arguably the best dad — ever."
The October 29th attack also killed 12 American soldiers and an unreleased number of Afghani civilians were too casualties.
Canadian Forces (CF) say Greff was with Operation Attention as a "mentor and trainer" for Afghan soldiers.
Four Canadian civilians and 158 CF personnel have died in action in Afghanistan since deployment there in 2001.
