Oil in Haiti, reasons for the US occupation, Part 2

I wrote Part 1 of Oil in Haiti as the economic reasons for the US/UN occupation back in October, 2009. After the earthquake I questioned whether oil drilling could have triggered the earthquake (Did mining and oil drilling trigger the Haiti earthquake?)Then suddenly, after spending years hitting myself against Officialdom's colonial rock that kept denying Haiti had significant resources. After being called crazy and un-American for writing that the 2010 earthquake gives the US the perfect disaster-capitalism opportunity to come out from behind the UN and openly occupy Haiti to secure Haiti's oil, strategic location and other riches for the corporatocracy.
Just after I wrote about oil drilling causing earthquakes, on the following Tuesday, a veteran oil company man comes forward in Businessweek to say, and one wonders how he can so authoritatively speculate about the area of the faultline without intimate knowledge of the drillings, explorations, Haiti's wellheads and oil map, et al, but nonetheless his sudden, seemingly unprompted REVELATION, is that Haiti lies in an area that has undiscovered amounts of oil, it must have oil and the earthquake "may have left clues" to petroleum reservoirs!
Oil that, uhmmm, "could aid economic recovery in the Western Hemisphere's poorest nation, a geologist said." (Haiti Earthquake May Have Exposed Gas, Aiding Economy by Jim Polson, Jan. 26, 2010, Bloomberg.) Yep, yep he may really mean: "that could aid Haiti's US-occupied economy recover its strategic oil reserves" for the global elite. No? I could be wrong, but I am thinking "and the cover up, starts." But I won't say so. Let Stephen Pierce tell the story...

The Jan. 12 earthquake was on a fault line that passes near potential gas reserves, said Stephen Pierce, a geologist who worked in the region for 30 years for companies including the former Mobil Corp. The quake may have cracked rock formations along the fault, allowing gas or oil to temporarily seep toward the surface, he said yesterday in a telephone interview.
“A geologist, callous as it may seem, tracing that fault zone from Port-au-Prince to the border looking for gas and oil seeps, may find a structure that hasn’t been drilled,” said Pierce, exploration manager at Zion Oil & Gas Inc., a Dallas- based company that’s drilling in Israel. “A discovery could significantly improve the country’s economy and stimulate further exploration.
...The Greater Antilles, which includes Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and their offshore waters, probably hold at least 142 million barrels of oil and 159 billion cubic feet of gas, according to a 2000 report by the U.S. Geological Survey. Undiscovered amounts may be as high as 941 million barrels of oil and 1.2 trillion cubic feet of gas, according to the report. Among nations in the northern Caribbean, Cuba and Jamaica have awarded offshore leases for oil and gas development. Trinidad and Tobago, South American islands off the coast of Venezuela, account for most Caribbean oil production, according to the U.S. Energy Department.
For the record, Haiti has a large reserve of oil and natural gas. How could it not? It shares the waters with oil producing island from all around. We noted this also. Besides, this is not new or a surprise to the United States and certainly shouldn't be new to "a geologist who worked in the region for 30 years for companies including the former Mobil Corp."
There's always been oil in Haiti. The US /USAID guaranteed an oil contract for an American businessman named Charles C. Valentine back in November 1962 that gave his company a monopoly control over pretty much everything to do with oil in Haiti and seems to have also paid him to back out of it.
Valentine successfully claimed $327,304 from the development agency, a sum USAID was itself able to extract from the Haitian government along with $4,396 in interest charges.
According to Haitian scholar Dr. Georges Michel, the US has known there's oil and natural gas reserves in Haiti since 1908 and did their explorations in the 1950s and locked up what they found as "strategic reserves for the US" to be tapped when Middle Eastern oil became less available. (See, Oil in Haiti by Dr. Georges Michel) I've been writing for years now that the US has been trying to get rid of Haiti's democratically elected government since 1991 so they could get to "their" strategic reserves without any fear of a populous president nationalizing the oil and gas reserves to benefit the miserably poor majority in Haiti as has been done in Venezuela or elsewhere in Latin America. No one has been listening. Not even the white liberals who are such defenders of Haiti. To the best of my knowledge, other than Haitians, over the long years before the earthquake, the only non-Haitian observers who ever paid attention and picked up on our reports and concerns about the plundering and pillaging of Haiti's riches, were John Maxwell and Chris Scott of CKUT Radio in Canada.That's it. All the others bought the State Department line that Haiti was a charity case and had no resources to mention. I supposed if they acknowledged Haiti could be self-reliant, these saviours, wouldn't have a gig to support themselves and their heroic self-image, right?
Today Haiti has oil and it's all good cause 20,000 troops are down there to secure it and Haiti's other riches while the vision is to perhaps herd the displaced earthquake victims - who don't die from their TV-aid - into hastily constructed pre-fabricated houses and let the ghettos fester as they do in Kingston, Jamaica, while the areas the whites and Haitian oligarchy want are developed into tourist havens and all capital is flown out of Haiti.
Notice where the earthquake fault line is and its juxtaposition to the Bay of Port au Prince where the drilling was taking place and the damage at Kafou's Morne L'Hopital, the epicenter of the earthquake and where the poor built their houses on the mountainside and all around the Southern coastal towns by the Bay of Cayes where there's oil according to Haitians and the geologist map of Haitian resources in the Lavalas white book. Notice how the earthquake was LOCALIZED to these areas and Port au Prince and never reached the Dominican Republic and there was no tsunami...

Or, perhaps drilling at the existing wellheads in Port au Prince some 20 to 30 miles North of the fault line or offshore in the Bay of Port au Prince may have linked up with existing fractures and interconnected to affect the fault-line and cause the earthquake as an unintended consequence. There have been reports of minor earthquakes in Port au Prince these last few years of very small magnitudes. They could have caused damaged that interconnected with the latest fracking to destabilize the fault line, cause the earthquake.
The Lavalas map of Haiti's resources shows that Kafou's Morne Cabrit housed a huge reservoi of oil. Here's the article I wrote, last year documenting that Haiti had oil and that was the reason for the US/UN forced removal of President Jean Bertrand Aristide. I do so hope, this time, to honor the lives lost and really help protect the remaining survivors of Bush the first and Bush the lesser's two regimes changes in Haiti and now this total occupation, that conscious Americans and all decent folks on this earth, are paying attention and will help us stop this latest travesty.
The just thing for now, is to allow former President Aristide who was kidnapped out of Haiti on a rendition plane by the US Special forces and has been practically under house arrest in South African for 6-years, forbidden first by US Secretary of State Condi Rice and now Hillary Clinton from returning home, to return to his country. He ought to be returned to Haiti so he may assist Haiti’s majority at this agonizing time and help in the relief and rebuilding of the nation. In The Fateful Geological Prize Called Haiti, F. William Engdahl explains that: Haiti straddles one of the world’s most active geological zones, where the deepwater plates of three huge structures relentlessly rub against one another—the intersection of the North American, South American and Caribbean tectonic plates.
The rubbing against each other of these underwater structures produces the oils, gas and rare strategic minerals and pushes them up fault lines and cracks in the earth to the surface. The convergence of such plates is what makes the Middle East region so rich in oil and gas. Engdahl, writes: "The vast oil reserves of the Persian Gulf and of the region from the Red Sea into the Gulf of Aden are at a similar convergence zone of large tectonic plates, as are such oil-rich zones as Indonesia and the waters off the coast of California. In short, in terms of the physics of the earth, precisely such intersections of tectonic masses as run directly beneath Haiti have a remarkable tendency to be the sites of vast treasures of minerals, as well as oil and gas, throughout the world." how can you say that u want aristide to return. he is the 1 that caused the country to be like this. how can a catholic priest have millions? how come they found hundreds of thousands of dollars stashed away at his home? ask jacques quetant how much he gave to aristide to land drug planes in haiti? u are soo redicilous to say such a comment. u must be 1 of the millions of ignorants who still love titide. u know he is a thief just like ur self. using the 1st democratically elected president doesnt work when those who voted for him cant even write their own name

me i'm sayin that u cant go n tell the guy that is crazy by wantin the return of The EX-president n also call him ignorant cuz everybody n the world have there belief n WORDS MEAN a lot that's y you learn how to use them,that's is OPINION n u got ur own,me i think with strenght n luv we could rebuild Haiti n also if we believe n god cuz eventhought that we're poor bt if we united like it said n the flag we could make the unexpected.People plz dnt be rational bout stuff have en openmind!!!

Aristide is a thief who stole millions of dollars from the people of Haiti. Until corruption is stopped Haiti will always struggle. The earthquake was an act of nature, a result of the geology of the area. It has NOTHING to do with God or drilling for oil or any thing else. Ezili is pushing her own agenda with is not necessarily what is best for Haiti. The ONLY way Haiti will prosper is to stop corruption, control the population growth and educate the people. Education, particulary education for girls is the key to development.

You may recite that Aristide was corrupt without any proof or evidence all day long, it doesn't hold water. You should show proof and then answer why it's YOUR business and not that of the voting Haitian majority to take care of their own affairs. Bush is a liar and corrupt but I don't see you advocating some foreign country come and do a regime change when he was in office in the US. Why the double standard? Neither YOU "Julia", nor the US, Canada, and France have the DIVINE RIGHT to force a duly elected black President on a rendition plane and deport him out of his sovereign nation to Africa! HLLN has an agenda. Yes. It’s to institutionalize the RULE OF LAW, not rule by force. The Haitian people are a sovereign people with the right to elect whomever they wish to office without interference. We shall continue to uphold that basic international precept until the bullies GET IT and make no apology for it. The UN ought to respect the Declarations of Universal Rights instead of servicing the US/Canada and France repugnant power grab in defenseless Haiti. What is ugly Julia is the idea that Black Haitian government officials are somehow MORE corrupt than US government officials. This is unfounded by the facts, racists and the sort of narrative that allows for rule by force, imposition of 20,000 US military when Haiti needs emergency relief after the earthquake, it allows white pedophiles and traffickers to operate in Haiti, hiding behind their white skin and Christian do-gooder cloak. The same cloak that’s brought Black & Brown people on this planet death, destruction and domination for over 500 years. Evil looks soooo ordinary except to those they terrorize. Ours is a different narrative. And we make no apology for that agenda, none at all. The assets of Haiti ought not to be pillaged and plundered by the Northern tribes while the people starve and die. What’s UGLY, Julia is this: Three days after the earthquake, while people lay moaning in excruciating pain under the rubble, limbs crushed, dying. People who could have been saved since “help” in the form of 10,000 NGOs and 9,000 UN soldiers had been in Haiti in the 6-years after they conspired to remove President Aristide. But they were NOWHERE to be seen. Meanwhile while people were dying in the rubble, up North a large gleaming cruise ship with 3,000 Northerners landed on Haiti’s pristine beaches hidden behind barb wire so the Cap Haitian population won’t taint them – they were enjoying the tropical sun, the people of Haiti were in unfathomable pain. That’s YOUR idea of development and progress Julia, it’s not ours. Aristide ought to return to Haiti to lead the majority and help rebuilt Haiti, not in this image. No, not in this image. Haiti needs to unite as a people. The country has not been ruled well and for many years. the True Spirit of the people should be love for one another. Change is in order and now is time.....quit pointing fingers for who are you to judge....YOU really don't have control of a person's actions or words but you DO HAVE CONTROL OF YOUR OWN . For it is not corruption that fell out of sky and spun Haiti into endless poverty and misery, it is the sheer amount of people like myself, who have grown up through no fault of my own, with American exceptionalism. We know what's best, for everyone, including you. Some people are cured of this, some aren't. Some go to their grave with their pride - and they take others with them - just look at Robert MacNamara - even he never truly faced the nature of his crimes in Vietnam - I don't know if any human being could.
I believe the answer to Haiti's problems would be to educate women. Men don't matter for some reason. For some reason I have been led to believe this is a rational statement.
Sometimes people are rude to me and make cruel comments or parodies of my posts. I don't like it, but when there are millions, if not billions of lives at stake, all over the world, depending on me to open my eyes and resist the empire the spreads from just outside my driveway. The people that do this are human to. They're just like me - we have a lot in common - we both actually want Haitians to get through this disaster, but we both think we understand it better than the other. I know better than he does, but I don't, I am just not at a point in time where I am ready to face up to investigating why when I espouse my ignorance all over the internet I am met with such hostility.

I think all the comments are logistic but we have to go little deeper to the root of Haiti problems, questions we should ask why is Haiti maybe because of its culture. Haiti is a country that has a lot talent people and intelligent people,that are capable to do alot why can they do good. The reason is simple the big fishes are made us paying for being the first black nation that claimed slavery should be abolished. President Aristid is the only one so far that has a vision to develop Haiti but the big fishes don't like people like him with idea of helping to open their eyes. Haiti OIL & GAS should be publicised therefore the world know we have that resourses and the big fishes don't stealing from us and they will stop calling the poorvest country.

Those are the "scientists" Daniel and Ginette Mathurin referred to in your article. Big time oil experts, no? You may find a biographical sketch of the Mathurin (use google translator if you like). To paraphase:
He is a Haitian medical doctor who claims to be an expert in Nuclear fusion, philosophy, linguistics (specializing in Hebrew languages), and nuclear reactors that are capable of deflecting asteroids approaching earth. Among other things. Incredibly, he makes no claim to expertise in geology.
He also has said that 300 million rich northern refugees will flee to Haiti's shores in a coming cataclysm involving asteroids. Don't believe me?

[Sounds whacky alright...but your challenge wasn't to prove Mathurin's bona fides, but that he existed online somewhere other than the cited echo-chamber on the Haitian oil issue. I still get the cookie, as you proved your point wrong. So you don't believe there are oil reserves under Haiti then? If so, what do you base this on? Are you contending Dr. M. is the only source of the oil under Haiti story? I ask again, "What is your agenda?" - ed.]

Ah, Ed, you're right. You win on a technicality and you get the cookie. Even though you didn't find the correct Mathurin, I did.
When I wrote the original comment I had not found evidence of his existence.
Big picture. Can we agree Mathurin has a credibility problem? The main believes asteroids are hurtling towards Haiti and he can stop them with a nuclear reactor. We can agree?
OK. The "Haiti has more oil than Venezuela claim. That comes from Mathurin. Nobody else is silly enough to say that.
Second. You cited this claim. That's a problem for your credibility unless you correct the record. If you correct the record, it redounds to your intellectual credit.
Third. Does Haiti have oil? Of course it does. It has a piddling quantity -- enough to keep the world running for probably 1 day.
Does it have Venezuela-style oil? Of course not. I mean, really. Contemplate it for second. Mull it over. It preposterously, transparently, ludicrously absurd. That's why it requires someone who believes that 300 million rich northern refugees are arrive on Haiti's shore on boats after asteroids rain down on the world to utter such nonsense. It requires a Dr. Mathurin. And it requires bloggers to mindlessly lap up the bullshit and spread it around the bullshit echo chamber. Sooner or later it simply becomes a fact:

There are some very credible sources who recognize the possibility Haiti is sitting on the same "Super Giant" field discovered off the coast of Cuba recently. This seems very reasonable to me. Rather that debate the kookiness of some obscure commentator, I recommend giving Engdahl's article attention. Here it is:

"Leaving aside the relevant question of how well in advance the Pentagon and US scientists knew the quake was about to occur .."
What am I supposed to say to that? Lets just leave it aside. Lets assume that, despite this mentally insane statement Engdahl is in all other respects a lucid thinker. Lets grant it.
Section Titled "Haiti, a new Saudi Arabia?"
I look in vain for a scrap of evidence that would justify putting Haiti, oil, and Saudi Arabia in the same sentence. The entire paragraph contains not one piece of credible evidence that Haiti has the most oil in the world.
a 1979 survey indicated that there was oil but multinational oil corporations scuttled the project. And this is evidence that Haiti is a new Saudia Arabia?
"Similar if less precise reports claiming that Haitian oil reserves could be vastly larger than those of Venezuela have appeared in Haitian websites"
This line refers to the Mathurin claim (less precise indeed!)

while everyone on this site are busy insulting each other people are dying in Haiti everyday and it will get worse when the oil wars starts in the region, so instead of all the bullsh** figure out how we can stop the dying...
