This Week on GR
by C. L. Cook
This week: freelance journalist, Jon Elmer on the announced cease-fire over Palestine and Israel; journalist and author, and filmmaker, Andre Vltchek reporting from the Pacific; and Janine Bandcroft reports from the Goods for Cuba Caravan, somewhere in America.
Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Monday, 5-6pm Pacific Time. In Victoria at 101.9FM, 104.3 cable, and on the internet at: http://cfuv.uvic.ca. Last week Israel announced a cease-fire deal struck with Hamas,
the government representing the occupied population of remnant
Palestine. But can the Israeli regime be trusted to cease its
relentless expurgation of Palestinians, and halt its overarching
colonization project? Jon Elmer is a Vancouver-based freelance
photojournalist and creator of an internet news site, www.FromOccupiedPalestine.org. He has lived in, and reported from
Palestine.
Jon Elmer in the first half.
And; despite Canada's place as one of the largest Pacific nations, we hear very little about the rest of our partners on the shores of the world's largest ocean, or how our neighbours live. Andre Vltchek is a freelance journalist, author, and filmmaker specializing in the Pacific region. He's a senior fellow at the Oakland Institute, co-founder of Mainstay Press, a publishing house for progressive political fiction, and serves as editorial director for the Asiana Press Agency. Some of Andre Vltchek's book titles include: 'Western Terror: From Potosi to Bagdad,' 'Exile,' and his latest 'Point of No Return.' He also produced 'Terlena - Breaking of a Nation,' a documentary chronicling the life and legacy of Indonesian dictator Suharto.
Andre Vltchek and a Pacific check in in the second half.
And
travellin' Janine Bandcroft will check in from somewhere in America
with the Goods for Cuba caravan, half-way between here and Havana at
the bottom of the hour. But first, Jon Elmer and peace in Palestine:
New hope, or old hype?
